Seraphim

One Rank of Angels in the Celestial Hierarchy

It is important to know the classification of angels to better understand the organization of GOD. There are thought to be nine celestial orders of angels.

There are thought to be nine celestial orders of Angels: Colossians 1:16

1. Seraphim
2. Cherubim
3. Thrones
4. Dominions
5. Principalities
6. Powers
7. Virtues (Falsely Suggested)
8. Archangels
9. Guardian Angels (Suggested by the Catholic Church)

There is however, no concrete Biblical proof of the exact ranking order or importance of the different angel groups. The same could be said of the members of the body...

“18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.” (1 Corinthians 12:18-21).

Only the Lord GOD can say what the orders of importance the angels take.

One of the rankings of angels, Seraphim, are associated with fire The Hebrew Word for Seraphim (Strong's #08314 from 08313), means a burning that is poisonous (serpent); a seraph or symbol, creature (from their copper color); fiery serpent.

Seraphim are one the of the ranks of the company of angels in the Celestial Hierarchy spoken of in Hebrews 12:22. They have an indefinite number. The Seraphim title is applied to those angels assigned to GOD’S altar and are concerned with the holiness of GOD. They relate to sacrifice and cleansing. They are described as having six wings, with two that covered his face, and with two to covered his feet, and with two to fly. The cry to one another saying “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory.” (Isaiah 6:2).

One seraphim flew to Isaiah having a live coal in his hand, which the angel took with the tongs from off the altar, and laid it upon Isaiah mouth. The LORD GOD sent the seraphim to touch the lips of Isaiah so his iniquity was taken away, and his sin purged (atoned for or covered). (Isaiah 6:6-8).

Seraphim are around the throne of the LORD GOD and they sing without ceasing day and night saying: "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord GOD, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come." They give glory and honor and thanks to the LORD GOD who sits on the throne, and lives for ever and ever. (Revelation 4:8-9).

WARNING!

We are warned NOT TO WORSHIP ANGELS! Let no man defraud your reward by delighting in false humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind. (Colossians 2:18).

John saw the prophecy of the book of revelations and after which he saw and heard all that he was permitted he fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which had showed him all those things. The angel told him NOT to bow down he was a fellow servant, and a brother of the prophets, he should worship the LORD GOD. (Revelation 22:8-9).

We are warned not to get caught worshiping or serving the sun, moon, stars, or the host of heavens (angels), which the LORD GOD has not commanded. This is an abomination. (Deuteronomy 17:3-5; Deuteronomy 4:19).
