Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain These are the City of Refuges shall be appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah. And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh. These six cities are on either side of the Jordan and are under the supervision of the Levites. These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel and for the stranger that sojourned among them, that whosoever killed any person unaware might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation. (Joshua 20:1-9). Bezer is in the wilderness, in the plain country. Bezer is on the east side of Jordan belonging to the Reubenites. (Deuteronomy 4:43). The children of Merari from the tribe of the Levites were given out of the tribe of Reuben Bezer in the wilderness with her suburbs on the east side of Jordan by Jericho. (1 Chronicles 6:63; 77-78). |
