ArchangelOne Rank of Angels in the Celestial Hierarchy |
|
Archangels are one of the ranks of the different ranks of the company of angel spoken of in Hebrews 12:22 which have an indefinite number. It is important to know the classification of angels to better understand the organization of GOD. There are thought to be nine celestial orders of Angels: Colossians 1:16 1. Seraphim 2. Cherubim 3. Thrones 4. Dominions 5. Principalities 6. Powers 7. Virtues (Falsely Suggested) 8. Archangels 9. Guardian Angels (Suggested by the Catholic Church) There is however, no concrete Biblical proof of the exact ranking order or importance of the different angel groups. The same could be said of the members of the body. “18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.” (1 Corinthians 12:18-21). Only the Lord GOD can say what the orders of importance the angels take. Archangel - Strong's Greek #743 a chief angel; from #757 to be first in political rank or power; reign rule over : and from #32 to bring tidings; a messenger, especially an angel. "E" Archangels are celestial beings, and intermediaries between GOD and man. It is an archangel who has the trump of God and can be heard when the Lord himself descends from heaven with a shout. That is when the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then those who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air so we shall always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Archangels usually are not mentioned by name, however, there are a few that have been revealed: MICHAEL Michael is identified as an archangel that withdrew from the devil when he disputed about the body of Moses. Michael did not boldly condemn the devil instead Michael said “The Lord rebuke thee”. Jude 1:9 Michael is one of the chief princes that came to help Jesus. (Daniel 10:13). Michael is considered the prince of Israel; there is none that is stronger with Jesus in faithfulness but Michael. Daniel 10:21). Michael is referred to as the great prince who stands for the children of Israel during the time of trouble such as never was since Israel was a nation. It is the time when the people of Israel shall be delivered, those that are found written in the book. Daniel 12: 1). A war in heaven takes place where Michael and his angels fight against the dragon and his angels. The great dragon is cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, and satan, which deceived the whole world, into the earth along with his angels. Revelation 12:7-9. Other Archangels are not listed by name in the Holy Bible, however, they are named in the Deuterocanonicals and Apocrypha, early Christian writings included in the Septuagint and Vulgate but excluded from the Jewish and Protestant canons of the Old Testament. URIEL (The fire of GOD) This angel is only named in 2 Esdras 4:1, 36; 5:20; 10:28. States that the human mind cannot understand the ways of God. A man already worn down by this corrupt world cannot understand the ways of the incorruptible GOD. Uriel also speaks of the Day of Judgment. Uriel was sent to the prophet Ezra (also known as Shealtiel), of the tribe of Levi, to answer his prayers. RAPHAEL Raphael is found in Tobit 12:5-21. He told Tobit it is better to pray sincerely and please GOD by helping the poor than to be rich and dishonest. It is better to give to the poor than to store up gold. Such generosity will save you from death and will wash away all your sins. Those who give to the poor will live full lives, but those who live a life of sin and wickedness are their own worst enemies. Raphael also told men to Praise GOD and tell everyone about the good things He has done for them, so men will honor GOD and sing His praises. Never stop praising GOD. It is good to keep a king’s secret, but what GOD does should be told everywhere, so that GOD may be praised and honored. Raphael is one who brings prayers into the glorious presence of GOD. GOD sent Raphael to test Tobit, as well as to cure, and rescue. Raphael is one of the seven angels who stand in the glorious presence of the LORD, ready to serve him. Raphael's name means "GOD has healed". REMIEL Remiel is probably the archangel "Jeremiel" of 2 Esdras 4:36 which is also where the Archangel URIEL speaks to the prophet Ezra. We are warned NOT TO WORSHIP ANGELS! Let no man defraud your reward by delighting in false humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind. (Colossians 2:18). John saw the prophecy of the book of revelations and after which he saw and heard all that he was permitted he fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which had showed him all those things. The angel told him NOT to bow down he was a fellow servant, and a brother of the prophets, he should worship the LORD GOD. (Revelation 22:8-9). We are warned not to get caught worshiping or serving the sun, moon, stars, or the host of heavens (angels). This is an abomination. Anyone worshiping the sun, moon, stars or the host of heavens shall be stoned till they die. (Deuteronomy 17:3-5; Deuteronomy 4:19). WARNING! We are warned NOT TO WORSHIP ANGELS!
